It's one of five potential designs unveiled Monday for a permanent monument on the Las Vegas Strip where 58 people were shot and killed and hundreds more injured at a country music festival on Oct. 1, 2017. Two survivors later died from their gunshot wounds.

The service, which is temporarily free, is still in its testing phase and only available in the downtown Las Vegas area. The remotely driven cars will also have a safety driver inside, in case any problems arise. The electric vehicles are controlled through six cameras that stream video directly to the remote pilots at Halo. The car's office, and the pilots' workspace, looks similar to an arcade game with a steering wheel, pedals and large computer screen. Car founder and CEO Anand Nandakumar says the Halo.


Driverless Shuttle Crashes 1 Hour After Introduction In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the first city in the country to get a driverless shuttle -- and it crashed within its first hour. There were no injuries, and it appears both vehicles received minimal damage. The autonomous vehicle runs a half-mile loop in downtown Las Vegas and began running at 10 a.m. The shuttles are free to passengers and the program is sponsored by AAA. The pilot program is scheduled to run for a year.

The oval-shaped shuttle that carries 12 people began a 10-day, free pilot program Tuesday along Fremont Street in the downtown entertainment district. The driverless electric shuttle has begun carrying passengers in a test program in a downtown Las Vegas entertainment district. Arma shuttles began providing free rides along a three-block stretch of Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, a vintage part of Sin City that is a tourist attraction away from the casino-lined main strip. The pilot public transit program will last a week, and was touted as the first time a fully autonomous, electric powered shuttle was left to its own devices to deal with traffic on a public street in the United States.
